NANB’s Registration Services process applications for registration and annual renewal.

Only members of NANB are allowed to refer to themselves as registered nurses or nurse practitioners in New Brunswick.

New Database for NANB Members

NANB has launched a new member database that presents a modern interface with easy-to-use portal for RNs and NPs through the ‘My Profile’ section of the website. A one-stop shop for members to access and complete their annual registration renewal, request documents from NANB such as verifications of registration, and complete their Continuing Competence Program.

Information for Applicants

The application forms and supporting documents required to apply for registration with NANB will be different for different types of applicants.

  • New Graduates – For recent graduates of an approved nursing school in Canada.
  • Canadian RNs – For applicants who are currently registered as a nurse in another Canadian province or territory.
  • Canadian NPs – For applicants who are currently registered as a nurse practitioner in another Canadian province or territory.
  • Former Members of NANB – For former NANB members who are not currently registered in another Canadian province or territory.
  • Internationally Educated Applicants – For applicants who completed nursing education and training outside of Canada, and who are not currently registered in any other Canadian province.

Information for Members and Former Members

Registration must be renewed annually for registered nurses and nurse practitioners. Your registration certificate expires on November 30 of each year. Practising without a valid registration is illegal and is an offence under the Nurses Act.

HST is included. Please note, NANB accepts Canadian funds only. Visa and MasterCard credit cards are accepted as payment type if the following information is provided: card name and bank, cardholder name, credit card number and expiry date.

Schools of Nursing Transcripts

UNB and UdeM baccalaureate students can request transcripts from the university they attended. NANB requires all new graduates to have their education institution submit directly to NANB an official transcript of their completed nursing program. This requires that all courses be complete and marks in therefore reflecting a completed nursing program transcript.

Nurses who received a two-year diploma from any of the schools listed below should call (506) 453-2713 or 1-800- 667-5626 for copies of their transcripts. Graduates of the three-year hospital-based schools should contact the specific hospital for copies of their transcripts.

Two-year Diploma Schools:

  • École d’infirmières de Bathurst School of Nursing (Bathurst)
  • École de formation infirmière d’Edmundston (Edmundston)
  • The Miss A.J. MacMaster School of Nursing (Moncton)
  • École d’enseignement infirmier Providence (Moncton)
  • The Saint John School of Nursing (Saint John)

In order to be eligible for registration or registration renewal in New Brunswick, nurses must have practised a minimum of 1125 hours in a recognized field of nursing in the previous five years while registered in the jurisdiction in which the practice took place.

To change your address on your registration, please contact Registration Services.

Moving Outside of New Brunswick

If you’re moving to another province in Canada or to another country, verification of your registration status in New Brunswick may be required there. Check with the jurisdiction you’re moving to in order to find out the procedure and documents you will need for registration. A verification form will be prepared by the NANB upon receipt of a fee of $40.25. Information is sent directly to the registering body from the NANB. Please note, NANB accepts Canadian funds only.
