February 2, 2026   ▪   CNNB News & Announcements, Press Releases

Fredericton, NB — February 2, 2026 — The Nurses Association of New Brunswick (NANB) has announced that it is changing its name to the College of Nursing of New Brunswick (CNNB) and launching a new logo and brand identity to better reflect its role as the regulator of registered nurses (RNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) in the province.

“We’ve changed our name and brand to reflect our future, but our commitment to nursing regulation remains the same,” said Kate Sheppard, Chief Executive Officer and Registrar of the organization. “This is about clarity and modernization; our services to the public and RNs and NPs will not change.”

Chad Doucet, President of the organization, noted that the College of Nursing of New Brunswick remains the sole regulatory body for RNs and NPs in the province and is distinct from any new or existing nursing organizations.

“Our mandate remains public protection through the regulation of RNs and NPs,” Doucet said. “We will continue to focus on setting and upholding standards and competence in nursing practice.”

Sheppard said she is excited to share additional information and updates with the public and with RNs and NPs as further changes are confirmed in anticipation of the new Nursing Act coming into effect later this year.
