Annual Registration Renewal
Registration must be renewed annually. A registration renewal form is sent to members last known address in mid September. A completed form signed by the member must be received at NANB prior to December 1st, which is the administrative deadline. Incomplete forms will be returned and will delay renewal of registration.
Practising nursing without being registered is illegal and constitutes an infringement of the Nurses Act (1984).

Returning to New Brunswick
If you were previously registered in New Brunswick and would like to renew your registration, the NANB requires:
- Verification of Registration to be sent to NANB directly from the nursing regulatory body in the jurisdiction where you have been working;
- Confirmation of Hours of Practice to be sent to NANB directly from your previous employer(s) for the past 5 years;
- A completed Reinstatement of Registration form (please note: if your name has changed since you were last registered in New Brunswick a copy of your marriage certificate is required); and
- Payment of all applicable fees.

Non-Practising Membership
If you were previously registered in New Brunswick, but do not meet the requirements for renewal, or are no longer practising nursing in New Brunswick, you may be eligible for a non-practising membership. Like all other membership categories, non-practising memberships are renewed annually in accordance with the bylaws and the rules.
A non-practising membership entitles you to receive NANB’s Info Nursing publication, participate in your particular chapter, and have membership in the Canadian Nurses Association (upon payment of the additional fee).
