WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:
Globalization and Its Impact on Nurses and Health Systems was first held in Copenhagen in 2001 as part of CNA’s the Strengthening Nurses, Nursing Networks and Associations Program. Subsequent sessions have been held in Vietnam and Central America with CNA international health partners and in Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and British Columbia with Canadian nurses. The NB workshop will be the fourth session held in Canada. The principle of equity is the central tenet of the NB workshop. The objectives of the workshop are:
- to consider the contribution of nurses in Canada and around the world to health systems;
- to share experiences and increase participants’ knowledge of the impact of the global economy on nursing and health systems;
- to explore ways in which local experiences are shared by nurses across Canada and around the globe; and
- to identify actions to promote equity in nursing and health systems at the regional, national and global level.
